Temple B’nai Israel proudly announced the opening of its Jewish Cemetery in November 1985. Up until that date, there was no place in the Lakes Region for Jewish individuals who wanted to be buried in a Jewish cemetery. Local people often had to buy plots in far-away locations or be buried in other non-Jewish areas.
We now have a designated area for burials as part of the Union Cemetery in Laconia and members and others can purchase single or group plots with the assurance that they will be in an area with other Jewish individuals. Union Cemetery is located on Academy Street in Laconia and is beautifully maintained by a superintendent and board of directors. Perpetual care is included in the general maintenance of the cemetery.
To date, there are about 45 to 50 individuals buried there and many other plots have been purchased by current members. Plots are currently available and can be purchased by contacting our Bereavement Chairman, at 267-1935 or via the below contact form. Member and non-member rates are available.
