Lessons From a Civil Rights Journey
In conjunction with the observance of the birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. Rabbi Alan Katz shares his personal experience and memories from two powerful journeys with many powerful photos.
- In 2015 Rabbi Katz participated in a partnership between the NAACP and the Reform Movement in a march from Selma, Alabama to Washington, DC. At that march, rabbis took turns carrying a Torah, almost like a relay.
- In January 2019, Rabbi Jan joined Alan on a nine-day, 3000-mile car trip to all the civil rights museums and memorials in Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee. “It was raw and transformative,” according to Rabbi Jan.
