Pick-up for all preorders will be:
Saturday, July 7, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
or at the festival itself on Sunday, July 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

All pick-ups will be at Temple B’nai Israel on 210 Court St. in Laconia.

For orders of $65 or greater, we will throw in a
TBI cookbook from which many of the prized recipes are derived.

Blintzes *

Lightly fried crepes filled with a mixture of farmers and cream cheese. Finish frying them at home, top with sour cream and/or berries and you will say what one Food Festival attendee said: “Every year they make me want to cry; they are so good!"

Chopped Herring

Herring, hard-boiled eggs, sweet onion, apples, sugar, David’s secret ingredient and a bit of Yiddish Zen.

Chopped Liver (Chicken)

Oh, what the heck. Unless you are really worried about your own liver, heart, etc., indulge yourself in the real thing. That’s sautéed chicken livers with onions and hard-boiled eggs and chick peas, chopped together for the best of appetizers. Good on crackers, matzo, to stuff celery or to eat by the spoonful.

Latkes (Potato) *

Extra large , nearly a quarter pound each. Simple to make if you want to peel and grate endless potatoes and onions. These are made into pancakes and fried. Just reheat when you get them home and accompany them with apple sauce or sour cream. Yum.

Matzo Ball Soup *

Legend promises this traditional soup will cure colds, flu and the blues. It is made from a rich homemade chicken broth and topped with fluffy matzo balls and carrots. The matzo balls are what add character to the soup.

The ultimate comfort food. Medium-width noodles cooked in a sweet cream baked custard, topped with cinnamon-frosted flake crumbs. Try to eat just a small portion. Bet you won’t be able to stop!

An Ashkenazi (Eastern European) specialty. Cabbage leaves are filled with rice, onions and ground beef, then baked in a savory tomato-based sweet-and-sour sauce. When you serve this dinner, everyone will think you cooked half the day.

Rugelach

Triangles of a light cream-cheese based dough are filled with pecans, raisins and cinnamon, rolled into crescents and lightly baked. These are so good that you will be eating them hot out of the warming oven. They taste even better after you let them cool. Contains nuts.

Strudel *

A variation on rugelach, using a similar dough and finely chopped walnuts, plump raisins, and raspberry jam filling, but shaping the filled pastry like a classic jelly roll, coated in cinnamon sugar and then baked. Perfect tea time treat. Contains nuts.
