At Temple B'nai Israel (TBI), safety and peace of mind are top priorities for all who attend our services and events. We understand the importance of a secure environment, especially given the recent increase in threats to the global Jewish community. We firmly believe that security is a shared responsibility, involving both TBI leadership and every one of our cherished members, friends, and guests.
Our commitment to security isn't new. An alarm and monitoring system were installed several years ago, and since then, we've continually enhanced our physical building security features. We're also in the process of adding even more.
Our Security Protocol
For the past year and a half, we've employed armed security personnel for all religious services and other events. During each event, a dedicated volunteer from our congregation acts as a liaison between the security professional and those inside the building. To ensure the safety of all, doors providing access to the exterior are locked once an event begins, and anyone requesting entry is identified. At certain times of the year, like the High Holy Days, we implement additional identification and security procedures.
Active Awareness
Active awareness by all members and guests is a key piece of our security protocol. Please be mindful of your surroundings as you enter and exit the building. Simply put, if you see something, say something to the Security Guard or the Security Liaison in the building.
Through these comprehensive measures and continued awareness, our goal is for all who attend our worship services and events to feel comfortable and enjoy everything that TBI has to offer, both in these challenging times and when the world turns more calmly.
