Lending a Helping Hand to Lakes Region Non-Profits

Temple B’nai Israel has been the heart of Jewish life in central New Hampshire for over 80 years and plays a positive role in the community at large.   The Social Action Committee continually apprises the temple community of ways to reach the disenfranchised and creates opportunities for members to participate as caring volunteers in these efforts including the Salvation Army lunch program, Hands Across the Table, the Spiritual Care Committee at the Lakes Region General Hospital and the Greater Laconia Ministerial Association.  TBI is part of the Interfaith Thanksgiving services program, periodically hosting these services and is also an active participant in Laconia’s Multicultural Day.

The We Care Committee operates under the auspices of the TBI fundraising committee and has been a major contributor to the Lakes Region community since 2013.  We Care organizes two concerts each year with the net proceeds benefitting two different local non-profit organizations.   The events, scheduled in May and October, include the talent, the venue, logistics, ticket sales and marketing.  An added feature of each concert is the pre-concert array of desserts and appetizers provided by the members of TBI and local businesses – all included for the ticket price.  The entire net proceeds of each concert are returned to the selected beneficiary of the event.  We Care has donated over $100K to non-profit organizations including:

  • Lakes Region Community Services
  • Genesis Behavioral Health
  • Central NH VNA & Hospice
  • Belknap House,
  • Camp Resilience
  • Voices Against Violence
  • New Beginnings
  • Community Caregivers
  • Lakes Region Visiting Nurses Association
